SEN Specialists

Our SEN specialist positions are within dedicated special needs schools, as well as mainstream school settings. For a number of our positions, our client schools do require specific experience and qualifications, with some schools happy to consider those individuals looking to make the move in to working within special educational needs.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) affect a child’s ability to learn. These can include their:

  • Behaviour or ability to socialise
  • Reading and writing, e.g. dyslexia
  • Ability to understand things
  • Concentration levels, e.g. ADHD
  • Physical needs or impairments

Pupils with such needs are often eligible for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), which is a legal document that sets out a description of each child’s needs and a plan to meet those needs by education, health and social care.

Whether working within a dedicated SEN or mainstream school, class sizes are typically smaller, with around 6-8 pupils, with a higher staff-to-pupil ratio than a typical classroom. SEN environments suit and require individuals with a genuine passion and interest in SEN, able to navigate through the daily challenges faced.

Supporting children who have been identified as having special educational needs or requiring additional support has been an increasingly fast-growing job sector for Clarus Education. Our specific SEN roles range from in-class support through to the management team.

If you are looking to secure a long term or permanent position as an SEN specialist, please feel free to look through our current positions or register your interest today.

  • 5 star review  Everyone at Clarus, especially Ryan and Alison were brilliant in helping me to secure a temporary SEND Teacher job until the summer. They were very speedy in dealing with my application and confirming interviews and doing all the necessary paperwork. I am working in a great school - I am very grateful for all their help.

  • positive review  Having found work in schools through agencies before I was sceptical about there being any agency that actually does care about the people on their books. HOWEVER, Clarus are really, really great. They have a team of personable, dedicated, professional and likeable staff. I've only been on their books for a couple of weeks and have already been sorted with a job in a great local school with School's Direct opportunities, which is exactly what I was after. These guys are by far the best agency I have come across so far, they're to the point, fast and know how to get the job done. George especially is GREAT. I've enjoyed our communications and honest discussions, he knew what work I wanted and found it for me so quickly. Now I have the job, he assured me he'd be in contact to see how I was doing further down the line, that sort of care isn't normal for an agency, that guy deserves a promotion ;) Thanks to all you guys for your amazing and thoughtful work and all of your help, and for restoring my faith in agencies.
