SEN Specialists

Our SEN specialist positions are within dedicated special needs schools, as well as mainstream school settings. For a number of our positions, our client schools do require specific experience and qualifications, with some schools happy to consider those individuals looking to make the move in to working within special educational needs.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) affect a child’s ability to learn. These can include their:

  • Behaviour or ability to socialise
  • Reading and writing, e.g. dyslexia
  • Ability to understand things
  • Concentration levels, e.g. ADHD
  • Physical needs or impairments

Pupils with such needs are often eligible for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), which is a legal document that sets out a description of each child’s needs and a plan to meet those needs by education, health and social care.

Whether working within a dedicated SEN or mainstream school, class sizes are typically smaller, with around 6-8 pupils, with a higher staff-to-pupil ratio than a typical classroom. SEN environments suit and require individuals with a genuine passion and interest in SEN, able to navigate through the daily challenges faced.

Supporting children who have been identified as having special educational needs or requiring additional support has been an increasingly fast-growing job sector for Clarus Education. Our specific SEN roles range from in-class support through to the management team.

If you are looking to secure a long term or permanent position as an SEN specialist, please feel free to look through our current positions or register your interest today.

  • 5 star review  Working with Clarus has been fantastic. Ryan couldn’t have responded faster to my initial job application (which I had originally found through the guardian website). I informed the team that I was looking to relocate from Manchester to London, and they were extremely efficient in organising two days worth of interviews to maximise on my limited time. I had regular contact with team who sent me a number of schools to consider. After having the interviews the team were keen to receive my feedback. Nikki was amazing throughout, reassuring me (a very nervous PGCE student). I was offered a job on the spot at my final interview- which was amazing. The whole process was made SO much easier by the friendly, helpful approach of the team. I have already recommended the company to all my trainee friends!

  • positive review  Clarus Education, and in particular Nikki Webber, have offered a proactive and quality service in finding me a teaching position quickly and efficiently. Having found myself looking for employment at an unusual time in the year for teaching positions, and after a time of personal tumult, Nikki was kind and generous in her approach. I'm hugely grateful to Nikki and Clarus for their help, and will be recommending them in the future.

  • 5 star review  I graduated this summer and had the intention of doing a PGCE in September unfortunately, having failed my skills test a month before my start date I had to find something else that would enable me to go into teaching. This was when I came across this company, within less than 4 weeks I had two schools wanting to give me a trial day. Now thanks to this agency and especially thanks to Ryan Bingham who was brilliant, I have found my dream job in a lovely school. throughout the whole process my contact Ryan Bingham was extremely professional and even called me the evening and morning before my trial day to make sure I was ready. I recommend this agency to anyone wishing to become a teacher as they would not be disappointed.
